Overview
Cala Escorxada is widely regarded as the ultimate reward for hikers and nature lovers visiting Menorca. Tucked away on the island's southern coast, this completely isolated beach is far from any roads or tourist developments. It features a sweeping bay of powdery white sand and incredibly transparent waters that shimmer with a brilliant, tropical turquoise color, easily rivaling any beach in the Caribbean.
The journey to Cala Escorxada is part of its charm. It requires a 50 to 60-minute hike along the Camí de Cavalls trail, starting either from the resort town of Santo Tomás to the east or from Cala Mitjana to the west. The trail winds through pine forests, coastal scrub, and rocky cliffs, offering breathtaking views of the coastline. Alternatively, some visitors choose to arrive via water taxi or private boat.
Due to the difficulty of access, the beach remains relatively quiet and retains an air of wild exclusivity. There are no facilities, chiringuitos, or lifeguards here. The environment is entirely untouched, surrounded by rugged cliffs and wild vegetation, making it a perfect spot for those seeking solitude and raw natural beauty.
